"Hi Mom! I am home!"

Whenever my brother and I would come home from school when I was in middle school, I would be afraid that people had followed us home and were hiding in the bushes, waiting for us to go inside before they broke in and killed us.

So I would always say really loudly, "Hi Mom! I am home!"

On several occasions my brother asked why I was saying that when Mom obviously wasn't home.

I told him to shut up because I was older.

  1. i used to do things just like this. was very afraid of snipers. would map out intricate routes of places to escape from my house and the best places to hide (the crack between my bed and the wall).

  2. Um, I still do things like this. When I am walking alone through scary dark places (e.g. - Loring Park at night) I sing really loudly to myself in hopes that someone will hear me, and then notice if abruptly stop singing because I have been brutally stabbed or molested.

Also, my mom trained me never to say she wasn't home when answering the phone as a kid. According to me, she took a lot of showers.
